have home field. the patriots also have a bye. surging cincinnati travels to houston in the early game on saturday with coverage beginning at 4:00 eastern here on nbc. the colts will head to baltimore to face the ravens on sunday at 1:00 eastern time on cbs. so, tony, what's your overview of the afc? >> well, it really is setting up for a new england/denver championship game, and i think it's going to be great with tom brady playing against peyton manning. that's the way i kind of see the whole thing playing out. but i'm excited about our game on saturday night. we're going to have houston and cincinnati. and matt schaub, the pressure is on him. houston was 11-1 at one point. schaub has to really start playing well for them to have a chance. first of all, they've got to protect him better than they did today, but he has got to step up in a big game and make some big plays. this month of december has not been great. houston can still turn it around, but i think it all falls on matt schaub and how he plays on saturday. >> and of course, now they've given up, ultimately, home field advant

with severe weather. tornado watches you can see. look at this. i-10 right along the gulf coast, houston to new orleans. and this is just really the beginning of it. we're looking at incredibly severe weather. tornado watches and tornado warnings. tornado warnings meaning these storms have produced rotation and have been detected. you can see right there. so right now it's eastern texas moving into louisiana. kind of to give you a perspective, south of i-20 here is tyler, texas. here's shreveport, louisiana. all of these moving northeast and this is just the beginning of really what could be an inundation of severe weather today and really a rash of tornadoes which is really quite rare for christmas day. so here is a look from houston to new orleans the beginning of the day from now through kind of early afternoon and as we head toward afternoon and into evening, atlanta, birmingham, so dangerous tornadoes, winds 60 to 80 miles per hour, straight line winds could be a factor as well. as well as damaging hail. so you kind of get the perspective and the gravity of this. that is the severe

possibly new year's in the hospital. gabe gutierrez standing by in houston. gabe, what can you tell us? >> hi there, craig. the former president remains in intensive care at methodist hospital. he's been here more than a month and the family spokesman says he is improving and that his interactions with the medical staff include singing. there is no word on what exactly he's singing, of course, but the former president first went to the hospital in early november with bronxitis a ibronchitis and after developing a nagging cough and the family hoped to have him home by christmas and that didn't happen, and he developed a fever and so doctors put him in the icu and they were reluctant to get details about his treatment and this thursday his chief of staff sent an e-mail to supporters telling people to put the harps back in the closet. the former president is in very high spirits although he's not expected to leave this hospital any time soon. his family, right now, says he's in guarded condition and they are cautiously optimistic about his recovery, craig. >> gabe gutierrez from houston,

on the eastern coast. it could shut down the trading facilities from boston down to houston and that could put a real dent. so this speaks to me about uncertainty. >> you're talking about these uncertainties and you can't be blinded by the fiscal cliff, the uncertainties that were missing before. if you look at the internals of the market, you saw this week industries and discretionaries and sectors making 52-week highs. >> i would look at the other side of the technicals there, j.c. that chart is bearish to me. there have been nine since 1998. some very significant declines after the cross. and the s&p won't follow through. in addition, the index just put in the death cross, as well. so i think the risk on trade is going to be coming to an end. maybe again it's a topping process over the next couple of months. but to buy here for 3% to 5% i think is a mistake in the light of possibly having a 10% to 20% decline in the new year. >> here, we've been up 25 of those 30 times and that's 82%. i'll take those numbers in vegas any day. >> yeah, but again, if you're looking at a near term trade, i wou

, new york, new jersey, philadelphia, to houston texas. all of those ports would have been basically frozen, as far as the container shipping would have gone. that mess would have been layoffs and loss of income. of course, all of those consumer products in those containers such as electronics, auto parts, airline parts, frozen foods, clothing, manufacturing goods, all of that would have been frozen. prices going up for the remainder. this would have been a one, two, knockout punch. many experts. this would have absolutely triggered a recession. this container cliff, by all accounts, has been adverted by basically the last minute. that is great news for the ports, as well as, the u.s. commerce, jobs in the u.s. president did not get faced with the choice of invoking the tax which would have declared the strike illegal. he would have completely alienated all of that labor supporting he just had in the campaign. everything looking good so far. we will get more details and report back on this later here in the day. dagen: thank you so much. port strike averted. he will be bringing in mo
